LNR Kids™ - Juvenile Diabetes

Help us raise awareness of Type 1 Diabetes!

Our goal is to create clear, concise, and cross platform accessible tools, courses, and resources for parents of young children and young adults that may have symptoms of or have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). Our main objective is to ensure a quick diagnosis before the child (or adult) suffers from dangerous and life threatening side effects. Our secondary objective is helping parents, family members, teachers, care takers, and peers understand T1D and their role in providing support.

What are the early signs of T1D and how you can easily test at home?
Caring for your child during the first few days after diagnosis.
How to explain T1D and its implications to your child.
Empowering your child and giving them a sense of control.
How to explain T1D and its implications to siblings and other family members.

Working with schools and your child’s teachers.
Students with diabetes – for teachers and school personnel.
Special occasions (birthdays, sleep overs, etc.)
Creating meal plans.
Blood glucose monitoring – when to test, how to record, interpreting the results, when to call your doctor, and how to adjust insulin doses.
What is insulin and how to prepare an injection (mixing and administering).
Hyperglycemia – causes, signs, and treatments
Hypoglycemia – causes, signs, prevention, testing for ketones, ketoacidosis, and using glucagon.
Illness management.
Keeping your child active and having fun!
